Explication

The poem is basically about a soldier who died on the battlefield and has risen to heaven. The setting then shifts back to where is body laid with his comrades not noticing his dead body. I chose this poem primarily for its imagery. Although Angela Morgan makes this poem very sad by writing about a dead unknown soldier, it gives the reader a sense of relief that the soldier is being recognized for sacrificing his life. This poem would lean towards the darker side of war, yet giving the reader closure.
